Back in 2006, Terrance M. Hyman (TM) relocated from Norfolk, Virginia to Tampa, Florida as Director of Operations for a major Verizon expansion project.  His ability to lead had been proven through the several management positions previously held as a supervisor (in various departments), Operations Support Manager & Operations Manager. Plus, he owns HAC Media, a multimedia consulting firm, specializing in audio & video production. Yet, this new appointment in Tampa as Director of Operations would truly put his leadership to the test. He was tasked with ramping up a brand new call center with 300 employees in a new market totally unfamiliar to him. However, he was identified as the man for the job! Through hard work, determination and strategic planning, the mission was accomplished ahead of schedule. Mr. Hyman was certainly the man for the job.

“’I’ve been a leader for as long as I can remember,” says Mr. Hyman when asked when did leadership become a focus for him? “As a child, my parents always instilled in me to be a leader, not a follower and I took it seriously.”  Once he completely transitioned to Tampa, his mother suggested he visit a church called Without Walls International. She had been following Pastor Paula White and knew of the church, although Terrance has never heard of either Without Walls or Paula White.  He decided to visit one Sunday and has not stopped attending since.

Pastor Paula is phenomenal. She’s a trendy, cutting edge teacher who understands how to deliver the uncompromising word of God in a practical way!  When T.M. first heard her minister, he felt he was in the right place. In Virginia, Terrance attended Faith Deliverance Christian Center where Sharon S. Riley is pastor. WWIC filled the void he felt since departing from his home church back in 2006.  He attended Without Walls each Sunday morning for a couple of years before being inspired to join Master Pastor Internship Program (MPIP) and Journey (new member orientation). Mr. Hyman has always been a leader in the world, yet felt it was time to focus on leading in the kingdom.  He does not regret the decision.

“MPIP has empowered me in ways I could have never imagined.” Pastor Fred Thomas who facilitates the program is a former Muslim who converted to Christianity and works directly under Pastor Paula White. The program is a Leadership Empowerment course.  It covers essential elements of leadership in ministry including foundations for ministry, leadership dynamics & ministry development. There is scripture memorization, quizzes, exams, book reports, practical ministry requirements and will conclude with homiletics. “I have grown by leaps and bounds. Plus, I’ve acquired a new family at my church. My advice to any leader looking to elevate ones quality of life is to get plugged in to a good church.” If you are ever in the Tampa, FL area, Without Walls International Church is a great place to visit. There is also a location in Lakeland, FL.  Check out www.withoutwalls.org
