Moving with Purpose beyond My Comfort Zone

Being human makes us all prone to making mistakes and Lord knows that I am no different.  Often times when I write these Health Matter articles, though I’m sharing with you, I’m really speaking to myself.  Recently, God allowed some major changes in my life.  Although I was initially bitter, I received and acknowledged that nothing happened to me that God didn’t allow and “that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28, KJV).”  God further blessed me to know that He has bigger and better things for me, yet he needed me to move.  Until early November, I’ve been blessed to work in the comforts of my home for 10 ½ years.  This was my comfort zone.  I required no more of myself.  I didn’t challenge myself beyond those walls.  I wanted more, but wouldn’t move as long as there was no need for me to do so.  God was saying, “It’s time for a change.”

Proverbs 13:4 (NLT) states, “Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.”  By God’s definition, I believe I had become lazy.  I wanted more, but wasn’t getting it.  Until this change, I still struggled with getting up early, but thanks be to God! He is faithful in answering prayers of His children.  I prayed that God would prepare me for the things He has for me and this is the change He made.  So, you’re probably wondering what all this has to do with health and/or fitness.  Well, let me enlighten you.  Don’t we do the very same thing when it comes to making better changes for the sake of our health?  We want to eat better, but we do what we’re use to doing.  We want to do more with our fitness routines, but we keep right on doing what we’re use to doing.  We’ve become lazy.  Wanting more and getting little.  In order to prosper in those areas we have got to work hard; move outside our comfort zones.

As we enter the New Year, let’s grasp at this opportunity to move to new heights.  Let’s move beyond what’s become common place, our comfort zone, and soar as Eagles.  Let’s take a “spiritual” inventory of our health and fitness areas; assess where we are and define where we want to be.  It’s time to move beyond the boundaries of our comfort zone.  God’s Word promises, “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31, KJV).”  We have EVERYTHING we need to move beyond our little comfort zones into the strength of God’s AWESOMENESS!  Let’s move people, let’s move literally.  Let’s make laziness a thing of the past and make prosperity, spiritually and physically, all things of the future!
